About the Employment Equity Coalition
The Employment Equity Coalition is a collaborative initiative comprised of Monroe County/Rochester area service provider organizations, individuals with disabilities, employers, and other stakeholders dedicated to increasing equitable workforce opportunities, decreasing poverty, and removing barriers for people with disabilities in Monroe County and the City of Rochester. The coalition’s primary focus is on populations in our community that have historically been underserved.
Our Goals

- Reduce the poverty rate for working age individuals with disabilities by helping remove barriers to access of services, supports, education, and gainful employment with a focus on communities that have generally been underserved to ensure equitable access to information and resources
- Educate and ensure training for employers in Monroe County on the business case for hiring individuals with disabilities
- Work collaboratively with service providers and educational institutions on policies and practices to improve work readiness for students and adults with disabilities
